New Year tree lit up on Ala-Too square in Bishkek

New Year tree was lit up on the central Ala-Too square in Bishkek yesterday. The ceremony was attended by residents of Bishkek and guests of the capital, Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev, Vice Mayor Victoria Mozgacheva and deputies of the Bishkek City Council.

City officials traditionally wished the citizens a Happy New Year. The height of the New Year Tree is 25 meters, its diameter at the base is 12.5 meters.

In general, the square and the tree are decorated with 14,200 meters of string lights, 7,500 meters of duralight, 8,420 meters of fuzzy garlands. The main tree is decorated with 296 toys in the form of snowflakes and glowing balls.

The festive program included a concert with participation of pop singers and creative groups.

China donated the artificial spruce to Kyrgyzstan in 2015.
