Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN Aida Kasymalieva met with the UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsu. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The parties exchanged views on cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs.
Aida Kasymalieva noted the commitment to the policy of disarmament and non-proliferation, which is confirmed by the Treaty on the Establishment of a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia, the depositary state of which is the Kyrgyz Republic. The Kyrgyz side plans to initiate within the UN announcement of the International Day of Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education.
Izumi Nakamitsu noted the great role of Kyrgyzstan as a depository state of the Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia and welcomed the initiative of the Kyrgyz side to announce the International Day of Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education.
