Clergymen of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia visit Karakol

A delegation of archpastors and clergy arrived in the Eastern Deanery of the Bishkek Diocese to get acquainted with the iconic places of Issyk-Kul region and the cultural and historical complex based on the Meerim Bulagy orphanage. The website of the Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan Diocese says.

The delegation includes the head of the Central Asian Metropolitan District, Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, vicar of the Astana diocese, Bishop Gennady Kaskelenskyi, Bishop Savvaty of Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Archimandrite Filaret (Bulekov), abbess of the St. Nicholas Convent in Tashkent Ekaterina (Malgina).

A divine liturgy took place in the Church of Blessed Xenia of Petersburg in Balykchi, then in Ananyevo, the lity for the dead was served at the site of the grave of St. Heraclius of Issyk-Kul. An evening service also took place at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Karakol.

A divine liturgy in the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God Hodegetria on Svetly Cape will take place today. After the liturgy, the delegation will march in procession to the Mothers’ Alley for a tree planting ceremony.

The program includes a round table discussion on the history of the Trinity Monastery. It will be chaired by the Chairperson of the Women’s Union for Traditional Values, Evgeniya Strokova.
