Large Japanese company to develop master plan for Bishkek

Japanese company Nikken Sekkei Ltd plans to develop a city master plan (General Plan) taking into account all the needs and convenience of residents of Bishkek. The press service of the Bishkek City Hall reported.

According to it, a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of urban planning, urbanism and architecture between the City Hall of Bishkek and the company was signed at the forum SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024 in Japan.

The City Hall noted that Nikken Sekkei Ltd is the world’s No. 1 Japanese company offering comprehensive solutions in the field of architecture and urban planning, focused on environmental and economic sustainability, functionality and forward-looking attractiveness. The company has so far realized many large-scale projects around the world such as: Greenland Center in Shanghai, Singapore’s «Lifeline» rail corridor, the birth of the «smart» city of Krasnoyarsk, the master plan of the northern part of Riyadh, the new financial district of the port city of Colombo, Forte Towers — Dubai’s opera district, many projects in Japan, the master plan of the central part of Vladivostok, the strategic urban planning of Moscow (Rublevo-Arkhangelsk «smart city») and others.

The development of the master plan of Bishkek will be the company’s first urban planning project in Central Asia.

In addition, during his visit to Japan, Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev took part in SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024.

«The event is a large-scale dialogue platform that brought together 48 city leaders from five continents to exchange ideas and discuss advanced technologies and strategies aimed at sustainable urban development,» the City Hall said.

The municipality emphasized that Bishkek was the only city of Central Asian countries presented as a guest of honor at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024.

Aibek Dzhunushaliev made a speech at the program for city leaders, where he presented the activities of the City Hall in the field of promoting zero emissions, improving the environmental situation in the capital. He shared Bishkek’s experience in implementing sustainable solutions and digital technologies that help the city to develop and adapt to modern challenges, emphasizing the importance of developing international cooperation in addressing global issues.

The main purpose of Bishkek’s participation in SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024 was to establish new partnerships, share knowledge and gain best practices for further development of the city.

Aibek Dzhunushaliev expressed confidence that participation in this event would open new opportunities for Bishkek and help to introduce the latest technologies in the city infrastructure.
