Thieves robbing tourists in Issyk-Kul region detained

Employees of the Main Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan detained three men and one woman, who are suspected of a series of thefts. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

According to it, the thieves operated in Issyk-Kul region.

Three Bishkek residents filed a statement with the Department of Internal Affairs of Balykchi, who reported that from September 18 to September 25, unknown people stole more than 445,000 soms from their cars in Skazka Canyon area. Law enforcement officers opened a case under the article «Theft» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Investigators of the Main Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs joined the investigation.

Law enforcement officers found out that the thieves, who came from a neighboring country, were operating in Balykchy. They specialize in thefts from cars. The investigators, together with the special forces, detained the criminals, from whom they confiscated two walkie-talkies, five mobile phones, binoculars, five keys (remote controls) to different cars, gloves and master keys. In addition, the detainees had dollars, euros, tenge, soms, rupees and francs, which were added to the case as material evidence.

The criminals turned out to be professional thieves, previously convicted in their home countries, 39, 49, 60 and 46. All were placed in a temporary detention facility. Their involvement in other similar crimes is being established.
