Public debt in Kyrgyzstan is decreasing

The level of public debt in Kyrgyzstan is decreasing. The report of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) says.

According to analysts, the level of the country’s public debt is decreasing due to rapid GDP growth and the strengthening of the som.

By the end of 2024, its level decreased by 4.4 percentage points — to 37.6 percent of GDP with a nominal growth of 2.2 percent.

The main decrease was provided by external debt (-5.3 percentage points — to 25.8 percent of GDP). At the same time, domestic debt increased by 0.9 percentage points — to 11.7 percent of GDP.

«The volume of placement of government treasury bonds decreased by 17.6 percent, but still significantly (2.5 times) exceeds the average level of recent years,» EFSD analysts note.
