Servicemen from the Russian airbase in Kant will take part in the parade in honor of Victory Day in Bishkek on May 8. The Ministry of Defense reported.
The parade will involve military equipment from almost all security agencies of Kyrgyzstan, as well as aviation and air defense systems of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian airbase in Kant.
Intensive preparations for the parade have begun. The ministry calls on residents and guests of the capital to take the movement of military equipment and aircraft overflights in the coming days with understanding.
This year, for the first time, the celebration of Victory Day and the parade on the occasion of the anniversary date in Kyrgyzstan will take place on May 8. This is due to the fact that the country’s president Sadyr Japarov will take part in the ceremonial events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow on May 9.
Immortal Regiment in the Kyrgyz Republic will be held in the traditional format of a large-scale march on May 9.
More than 360,000 Kyrgyzstanis fought in the Great Patriotic War. A third of them did not return home, 72 people were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, some twice.
Currently, 32 veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Leningrad siege survivors and concentration camp prisoners remain alive in Kyrgyzstan.
