Kyrgyzstanis to have short work week and long holidays

Kyrgyzstanis will have a short work week and long holidays — from May 1 to May 9.

Non-working days in May 2025 are:

  • May 1–4, 6–8 — May holidays;
  • May 5 — Constitution Day;
  • May 9 — Victory Day.

Those citizens who have a 5-day work week will rest from May 1 to May 11 inclusive.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science, all schools and kindergartens will be closed on these days.

Only doctors on duty will be available in polyclinics.

All Public Service Centers (PSC) will also be closed from May 1 to May 11, 2025 inclusive.

According to the Labor Code, employees may only be required to work on weekends and public holidays in the following cases:

  • During emergencies (accidents, natural disasters, threats to property);
  • In continuous production (such as energy, transport, and public utilities);
  • In public service sectors (healthcare, public transportation, shops with authorized schedules);
  • Ceative workers, athletes, and media employees — under special regulations.

Work on non-working holidays is to be compensated.
