Mudflows, landslides: Over 3,800 families in Kyrgyzstan live in hazardous zones

More than 3,800 families in Kyrgyzstan continue to live in areas exposed to hazardous natural processes. Daurbek Sakyev, Director of the Department for Monitoring and Forecasting Emergency Situations at the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, told 24-kg.com news agency.

According to him, the ministry has issued resettlement notices to 3,870 families, more than 2,000 of whom reside in zones with a high risk of landslides.

Daurbek Sakyev emphasized that the ministry does not have the authority to enforce compulsory resettlement measures.

«According to established procedures, information and notices are sent to local government authorities, which then forward the materials to judicial bodies for consideration regarding resettlement. This process is gradual and requires time, as relocation of all families at once is not possible,» he explained.
