Joint fight against synthetic drugs discussed in Bishkek

The Forensic Expert Service under the Ministry of Justice received international experts Massimo Barbaglia and Rosa Fabian from the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC) for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, and their Precursors, the press service of the Ministry of Justice reported.

According to the Forensic Expert Service, the visit focused on the exchange of experience and knowledge in addressing the growing threat of synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances in Central Asia. CARICC experts presented an analysis of current drug trends in the region.

In turn, the international experts were shown the practical work of the Forensic Expert Service in analyzing narcotic substances. During laboratory demonstrations, both sides exchanged views on the most effective methods for identifying narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, potent agents, and precursors.

Special attention was paid to improving the qualifications of forensic experts to enhance the effectiveness of efforts against drug trafficking. The meeting allowed to establish a constructive dialogue and valuable knowledge exchange in the anti-narcotics field.

The international experts are evaluating the potential for establishing pilot regional early warning systems to respond to emerging threats related to synthetic drugs, including NPS, across Central Asian countries.
