Border Service takes over Victory Relay from Kazakhstan’s colleagues

A solemn ceremony of welcoming the symbol of the international military-patriotic campaign Victory Relay took place at Ak-Zhol-Avtodorozhny checkpoint. The Border Service of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Representatives of the Border Service of Kazakhstan handed over the Victory Relay to their Kyrgyz colleagues.

«The international campaign dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War started on February 2, 2025 simultaneously along two routes — from Brest (Belarus) and Murmansk (Russia). The relay runs along the external borders of the CIS member states. The Victory Relay race will be held in Kyrgyzstan from April 29 to May 4, covering Chui, Issyk-Kul, Naryn and Osh regions,» the statement says.

After the ceremony, the relay group of border guards visited the outposts Kant and Tokmak.

The Victory Relay will continue its journey through the border units of Issyk-Kul, Naryn and Osh regions. Ceremonial events will be held in each region with the participation of border unit personnel, border veterans and representatives of the public.

On May 4, at Bor-Dobo — Avtodorozhny checkpoint, Kyrgyz border guards will hand over the Victory Relay symbol to their colleagues from Tajikistan.

The first military-patriotic campaign Victory Relay was held in 1995 on the initiative of border veterans and was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Great Victory. Its main goal was to strengthen good-neighborly relations on the borders of the Commonwealth. Since then, the relay race along the external borders of the CIS states has become a good tradition, symbolizing the valor and courage of border guards, who are always the first to defend the borders. The Victory Relay is a symbol of memory of those border guards who were the first to fight in June 1941.

The large-scale military-patriotic campaign will end on May 28, 2025 in Moscow at the memorial complex Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
