In response to the rapid growth of cybercrimes in Kyrgyzstan, a draft resolution «On measures to combat fraudulent crimes in the banking and Internet spheres» was submitted for public discussion, developed by MP Meder Aliyev.
As the MP himself said to 24-kg.com news agency, the document is aimed at creating effective legal and organizational mechanisms for the prevention, warning and combating remote crimes committed using modern information technologies.
The draft resolution of the Zhogorku Kenesh provides for:
- Development of methods to combat new crimes in the banking sector;
- Strengthening liability for crimes in the field of information technology;
- Conducting a systematic analysis of crimes in the banking sector;
- Improving organizational and legal acts to prevent, detect and suppress crimes in the banking sector;
- Ensuring the protection of personal data of citizens through the improvement of legislative norms and technical standards;
- Coordinating the work of government agencies, law enforcement agencies and private organizations in the fight against cybercrime.
It was previously reported that the Parliament is initiating changes to the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic to combat cyber fraud. It was noted that in 2024, 1,658 criminal cases in the field of IT technologies were initiated in the country, of which only 796 were solved.
