Resorts located on Issyk-Kul Lake that lack wastewater treatment facilities have been prohibited from accepting tourists. The Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan reported.
It is noted that inspections are carried out as part of the Presidential Decree «On Urgent Measures to Preserve the Ecology of Issyk-Kul Lake.» The document obliges the heads of recreational facilities to suspend operations and refuse to accept tourists in the absence of appropriate treatment systems.
«During the inspections, owners of recreational facilities — including sanatoriums, resorts, holiday homes, yurt camps, and guest houses — are being issued official notices along with a task plan,» the statement says.
