First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev meet with David Reed, Director for Sanctions at the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. The meeting took place in the United Kingdom during the Kyrgyz delegation’s working visit. The Cabinet’s press service reported.
The discussion focused on compliance with the sanctions regime and measures to prevent circumvention of established sanctions requirements.
During the dialogue, David Reed expressed the UK’s concern about the risks that entities engaged in foreign economic activity in the Kyrgyz Republic may face, if they become involved in sanctions evasion schemes.
Daniyar Amangeldiev provided detailed information about the operations of Trade Company of the Kyrgyz Republic JSC and Capital Bank of Central Asia JSC, which have raised concerns among Western partners. He explained the purpose and objectives behind their establishment, emphasizing their role in systematizing and monitoring trade and financial operations.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects of conducting an audit of the aforementioned organizations by internationally recognized auditing firms in the near future. The aim of such an audit would be to check the transparency of their operations. An agreement was reached to continue work in this direction.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both Daniyar Amangeldiev and David Reed expressed mutual readiness to continue the dialogue on the issues discussed.
