Startup projects in Kyrgyzstan to get access to preferential lending

Within the framework of the state program to support small and medium-sized enterprises, startup projects will also get access to preferential lending. Zhanara Orozalieva, head of the Investment Department of the Financial and Credit Fund under the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, told on the air of Birinchi Radio.

According to her, often an entrepreneur, just starting a business, does not know where to apply, what documents to collect, where to find finance. «Financial and credit institutions are afraid to give loans to many startup projects, and the state program will be a good help and support for them,» Zhanara Orozalieva said.

She noted that a project of preferential lending to small and medium-sized businesses was approved in 2025 by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.

«Loans are issued at 8 percent per annum. Thus, subjects are given a good opportunity to realize their entrepreneurial activity. The loan can be obtained for five years. The program provides for many directions. In general, the amount of financing is 500 million soms for 2025,» Zhanara Orozalieva added.

The program is designed for 2025-2030 and is aimed at stimulating sustainable economic growth, development of priority industries, job creation and expanding access to finance for businesses.

The project is implemented at the expense of the republican budget and own funds of Microcredit Company Entrepreneurship Development Fund OJSC.

It was noted with reference to the data of the National Statistical Committee that 18,100 small and medium-sized businesses were registered in 2024 in the Kyrgyz Republic, which is 20 percent more than in 2023. The largest number of such operating enterprises is in Bishkek and Chui region.
