President of Kyrgyzstan meets with CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council members

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov met with members of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The press service of the head of state reported.

The meeting focused on issues of regional security, strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, and further development of cooperation within the CSTO framework.

In his address to the participants, President Japarov emphasized that the modern world faces numerous emerging challenges such as terrorism, extremism, cyber threats, and climate change. He noted that these factors place pressure on the stability of member states and require consolidation of efforts.

The President highlighted the vital role of parliaments in developing and supporting effective mechanisms for interstate cooperation.

«Within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation, we see it important to actively develop common initiatives aimed at strengthening political dialogue, developing the economy, improving infrastructure, and increasing the well-being of our countries and peoples,» Sadyr Japarov said.

He further emphasized that CSTO efforts must be focused on establishing swift and coordinated action based on the principles of alliance, mutual understanding, and support. He noted that Kyrgyzstan, as the current chair, is firmly committed to strengthening the Organization, increasing its authority in ensuring peace and stability in the region, and upholding the sovereign interests of member states and their right to pursue their own models of development.

In response, CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin expressed gratitude to President Japarov for the warm welcome and praised Kyrgyzstan’s contribution to the development of integration processes within the Organization.

He noted the importance of the parliamentary dimension in the CSTO’s activities and stressed that the combined efforts of the Parliamentary Assembly and the decisions of the heads of state enable prompt responses to emerging challenges and ensure coordination among member countries.

In his speech, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov briefly spoke about the work done by the secretariat within the framework of Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship of the organization and expressed confidence that the coordinated work of all bodies will contribute to strengthening peace, security and stable development of the entire region.
