Parliament approves Ruslan Mukambetov for post of Minister of Defense

Deputies unanimously approved Ruslan Mukambetov’s candidacy for the post of Minister of Defense of Kyrgyzstan at a meeting of Parliament.

During the discussion, deputies Iskhak Masaliev, Balbak Tulobaev, Alisher Kozuev, Talaibek Masabirov, Ilimbek Kubanychbekov, Nilufar Alimzhanova, Taalaibek Sarybashov drew attention to the mechanisms of conscription for military service, the solution of logistical and property issues in the army, and wished Ruslan Mukambetov good luck in this responsible position.

Deputy Kamila Talieva noted that the guys from Batken region would like to study in military educational institutions, in this regard, she proposed to consider the issue of opening military educational institutions in the regions.

Deputy Gulsunkan Zhunushalieva proposed to consider the issue of opening a military medical faculty at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy. Deputy Nadira Narmatova raised the issue of hazing in the army, adding that it is necessary to get rid of negative manifestations, such as hazing between servicemen, and to introduce basic military training in all schools.

On May 17, the President issued a decree appointing Ruslan Mukambetov as acting Minister of Defense. Baktybek Bekbolotov, who held this position, became Secretary of the Security Council.
