The 8th International Festival of World Epics will take place in Bishkek on May 28–30 with the support of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic. The event is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the great manaschi Sayakbay Karalaev. The press service of the Ministry of Culture reported.
The festival program includes an international scientific and practical symposium for epic scholars and researchers studying the epic heritage of different nations, as well as thematic round tables and meetings.
Competitions and events aimed at broadly reflecting the philosophy of nomadic life are also planned: «Mykty Kyrgyz Boz Uyu», «Uluu Muras», «Sarkech Kochmon», and for the first time, a competition of seitekchi — performers of the epic «Seytek» will be held.
The festival will be held within the framework of the implementation of the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic «On additional measures for the comprehensive study and popularization of the epic trilogy of the Kyrgyz people — the epic «Manas», «Semetey», «Seitek» and the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic «On the epic «Manas».
The Festival of Epics of the Peoples of the World has been held since 2006. The organizers of the event are the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy, the National Academy Manas, the Kyrgyz National Theater Manas and the Public Foundation Art-Araba.
